Why it exists

The things that happen between rough-in and start-up

Copper line set left exposed through a bare hole in wall sheathing on a job site
Exposed for monthsYour copper sits in the open for months while framing, siding and landscaping crews work around it.
Kinked copper line set against wall sheathing
One kink and it is doneToday's line sets are less forgiving than they used to be. One kink means rework, and rework costs hours.
Copper lines and PVC drain through a hole in sheathing packed with expanding foam
A hole and some foamThe improvised termination is the one part of your work the homeowner sees every day.
Lineset Box in wall sheathing holding a coiled copper line set, drain and wire until start-up
The fix: the Lineset BoxInstall it the moment you cut the house so nobody takes the bay. Coil the line set inside until you set the condensers.

  3. One piece moldingMolded in one piece from polypropylene. No assembly, no separate faceplate, nothing on the wall that can work loose.
  4. Made in the USAMade in the USA from UL-recognized polypropylene, UL 94 HB, UL File E130336. One clean termination point, easy install.
  5. Tapered backThe body tapers toward the back to clear the wall cavity, and sits 3.60 inch deep behind the flange.

Install

Four steps at rough-in

Cutting the Lineset Box rough opening in wall sheathing

1. Cut the opening

Cut a 5-3/4 x 10-3/4 in rough opening in the wall sheathing during rough-in, before siding or exterior finish.

Setting the Lineset Box into the rough opening

2. Set the box

Drop the box into the opening and seat the flange flat against the sheathing. The tapered back clears the wall cavity.

Driving deck screws through the Lineset Box flange

3. Fasten the flange

Drive eight 3/4 in galvanized deck screws or equal through the pre-drilled holes into the sheathing and framing. Screws not included.

Flashing tape on the Lineset Box flange with lines run inside

4. Tape and run your lines

Seal the flange with flashing tape. Hole-saw the top for the line set and drain, then run the line set, drain and low voltage wire.

FAQ

Common questions

What size rough opening do I cut?

Cut a 10-3/4 x 5-3/4 in opening in the sheathing during rough-in, before siding goes on. The body is 10.63 x 5.65 in and sits 3.60 in behind the flange, so it clears a 2x4 wall.

Does it have knockouts?

No. Hole-saw the top of the box on site to fit the job: 1-7/8 in for a 7/8 x 3/8 line set, 1 in for a 3/4 in PVC condensation drain. Seal every hole with silicone.

What comes in the box?

The box only. It takes eight 3/4 in galvanized deck screws or equal through the pre-drilled flange holes, and flashing tape to seal the flange. Neither is included.

Can I use it on a mini split job?

Yes, on the outside wall, for the line set, drain and low voltage wire. If you need the rough-in box inside the wall behind the head unit, that is our Star Box.

Who makes the Lineset Box?

J.T. Products LLC, an HVAC hardware company in Warwick, New York, in business since 1999. Invented by John Tomaini after 40+ years contracting. Made in the USA from UL-recognized polypropylene, UL 94 HB.
